As PSG–Rennes approaches on Saturday at the Parc des Princes, here is the situation: what will the Parisian lineup look like with absences and fatigue piling up? PSG is exhausted… but cannot rest. Paris, beaten by Monaco (1-0), has lost the top spot in the league to Lens and remains second before Matchday 15. They will therefore have to react with the strength they have left.
Rennes, fully revived after a difficult start to the season, is coming off four straight wins and now sits in 5th place. With a victory, the Breton club could close the gap to just three points behind PSG.
Paris Facing Absences and Physical Fatigue
On the Paris side, several absences are expected: Lucas Chevalier is still struggling with his ankle after Camara’s heavy challenge during Monaco vs PSG. He may therefore give way to Safonov. Hakimi and Doué are out, doubts remain over Nuno Mendes, and goalkeeper Renato Marin is uncertain.
PSG players are burnt out… but have no replacements. Kvaratskhelia, who admitted a few days ago that he was at the end of his rope, will have to keep going—unless Luis Enrique brings Barcola back. Marquinhos should be rested. In midfield, the starting trio is expected to continue.
Probable PSG lineup: Safonov – Zaïre-Emery, Zabarnyi, Pacho, L. Hernandez – Vitinha, Neves, Ruiz – Lee, Ramos, Kvaratskhelia or Barcola. Rennes could get back Seko Fofana, who is resuming training but not yet certain to play. Probable Stade Rennais lineup: Samba – Aït-Boudlal, Jacquet, Brassier – Frankowski, Camara, Cissé, Rongier, Al-Tamari – Lepaul, Embolo.
