After PSG’s clear victory against Lille (3-0) at the Parc des Princes during the 18th round of Ligue 1, the ratings from the press and vipsg.fr reveal some trends… and some interesting divergences.
Overall, Le Parisien, L’Équipe, and vipsg.fr agree on the essentials: Ousmane Dembélé dominated the match. Rated 8 by both newspapers, he received a 9 on vipsg.fr after an exceptional game, marked by a brace and a constant influence on the Parisian play. Unsurprisingly, he is the man of the match for everyone.
However, the assessment of some offensive players varies. Désiré Doué, for example, is rated 6.5 by Le Parisien, 5 by L’Équipe, but 7 by vipsg.fr, which particularly appreciated his activity, provocations, and involvement in the second goal. The same discrepancy applies to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia: 5 for Le Parisien, 4 for L’Équipe, against 5.5 on vipsg.fr, where his performance is deemed intermittent but punctuated by some interesting flashes.
In midfield, the assessment is quite homogeneous for Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz. Both newspapers give them a rating of 5 or 6, and vipsg.fr rates them both at 6, highlighting their clean match, useful in maintaining control, but without real brilliance. In contrast, everyone agrees on Senny Mayulu’s complicated performance, rated 3 by both the press and vipsg.fr.
Chevalier, everyone agrees
At the back, the discrepancies are more pronounced on the flanks. Nuno Mendes is rated 6 by Le Parisien, 7 by L’Équipe, and 7 by vipsg.fr, which emphasizes his enormous offensive activity and numerous forward runs. The same trend applies to Zaïre-Emery: 6 for Le Parisien, 7 for L’Équipe, and 6.5 on vipsg.fr, where his work rate and impact in pressing were highlighted. In the center, Marquinhos (6 for the press, 6.5 on vipsg.fr) and Pacho (6 for Le Parisien, 5 for L’Équipe, 6 on vipsg.fr) are generally considered solid, despite a somewhat shaky start to the match.
In goal, everyone agrees on Chevalier, rated 6 across the board: not heavily tested, but decisive when needed.
Finally, vipsg.fr also rated the substitutes, who were absent from the press ratings. Barcola, who scored at the end of the match, received a 6.5. Lucas Hernandez is credited with a 6 for his serious entry, Ramos a 5.5 for too short a playing time to make a real impact, and Zabarnyi, who came on at halftime, gets a 6 for his solidity on the right side.
In the end, while the press and vipsg.fr agree on the main points, particularly on Dembélé’s outstanding match and Mayulu’s disappointing performance, the differences mainly lie in the assessment of Doué, Mendes, and, to a lesser extent, Kvaratskhelia. These discrepancies show that, despite a wide scoreline, several performances remain open to interpretation.
