Hakimi picks up his African Ballon d’Or… on a scooter – Watch

Achraf Hakimi may have been crowned African Player of the Year, but he showed up to the ceremony looking more like RoboCop on one leg.

Still dealing with a battered ankle after an MMA-style tackle against Bayern, the PSG full-back arrived at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Rabat wearing a medical boot… and rolling in on a knee-support scooter. Yes, even injured, Hakimi still looks cooler than the rest of us fully healthy.

Despite his “controlled-slide” approach, the Moroccan star picked up his trophy, a well-deserved reward after a massive season with Paris, capped by the club’s first Champions League title. He beat out Salah, Osimhen, and the rest of Africa’s elite, just to remind everyone that the right flank on the continent… is his kingdom.

Hakimi feared he had fractured his ankle after a brutal challenge from Luis Diaz on November 4, the kind of tackle that deserved a red card, an orange one, and maybe even a handwritten apology. The verdict: a severe sprain, several weeks on the sidelines, and a return with PSG before 2025 looking highly unlikely.

“Receiving this award is a huge honor. Being recognized on my continent means something very special to me,” Hakimi said, thanking his teammates, the PSG staff, the Moroccan federation, and the fans who support him daily.

His new top priority: being fit for the Africa Cup of Nations at home starting December 21. Until then, Hakimi keeps adding trophies to his shelf… and trendy medical accessories to his collection.
