Kylian Mbappé is at the heart of a new controversy after prematurely leaving the French national team camp due to injury, only to immediately fly to Dubai.
The French national team secured its qualification for the 2026 World Cup by defeating Ukraine (4-0) on Thursday. Mbappé, who scored twice, played the entire match. However, the FFF (French Football Federation) then announced the striker’s withdrawal from the final qualifying match against Azerbaijan (Sunday), citing an “inflammation of the right ankle” that required examinations in Madrid. Coach Didier Deschamps confirmed that he wanted to avoid any risk.
A few hours later, the Spanish press quickly contradicted this version, claiming that Real Madrid had not planned any examinations and that the player would be available for the next La Liga match on November 23, raising the hypothesis of a “diplomatic injury.”

The story continues: Mbappé took a flight to Dubai on Saturday morning. On Instagram, the Drikcfootball account published a video of his luggage tags (Emirates flight EK72) confirming his departure. And here is the major point of contention… because the flight time from Paris to Dubai (approximately 6 hours and 40 minutes) was longer than a flight from Paris to Baku (5 hours and 10 minutes), the location of the match Les Bleus were scheduled to play.
However, the striker did not try to hide. He was spotted in a luxury hotel and, more tellingly, at a padel club where he posed in sports attire with other celebrities, such as singer Dadju, suggesting he was capable of physical exercise.
Singer Dadju posted an Instagram story showing Kylian Mbappé posing with members of the “Padel One” club, though without a racket. “Thank you to our friend and champion Kylian Mbappé for visiting us today,” the caption read.
This getaway is reminiscent of an incident in October 2024, where Mbappé had traveled to Stockholm while Les Bleus were playing in the Nations League, despite also being officially left at his club’s disposal.
There is no doubt that this trip, while he is supposedly resting, will generate significant media repercussions.
