PSG in 2025 will be remembered not only for its first Champions League title and spectacular play but also for a historic record: the most goals scored in a calendar year in the Champions League, thanks to the 7-2 triumph against Bayer Leverkusen this week.
40 goals in a calendar year. This is the new record set by PSG. An impressive figure, symbolizing an extraordinary offensive power. Certainly, the new format of the competition, with its league phase and explosive playoff against Brest (10 goals scored alone), contributed to this crazy total.
But the credit primarily goes to an irresistible collective: PSG now plays as a team, and the number of different scorers has exploded, whereas before, it was more about dependency on Mbappé.
PSG can still break the record
And it’s not over yet. With three more matches to play in 2025, PSG could push the limits even further. While OM celebrates its 100 goals in the Champions League since 1992, Paris continues to write another dimension of history. A record to savor, and perhaps not the last one.
