“A real signing!”: Luis Enrique blown away by PSG’s new sensation

It was the shock of the night: as the teams lined up against Tottenham on Wednesday, 18-year-old Quentin Ndjantou was in the starting XI. His first-ever Champions League start, and it ended with a spectacular 5-3 win for PSG.

Ndjantou’s pride was obvious. The young forward delivered a mature, energetic performance in a role as difficult as it gets: a false nine on a European stage.
“It was a huge match. We got the three points, so we’re very happy. For me, it was my first Champions League start, a lot of pride, a lot of emotion. I tried to give back the trust the coach gave me. The atmosphere is nothing like a normal game. I thank the supporters and my teammates,” he said afterwards.

But if Ndjantou impressed Paris, Luis Enrique was absolutely stunned

The Spanish coach didn’t hold back: “He was sensational. He can play everywhere, midfield, attack. He keeps the game flowing, he has great mobility, he shows personality.”

Then came the line that set PSG fans on fire: “He’s a real signing! We didn’t need the transfer window to recruit Ndjantou, and I’m very happy about that. We’re ahead of the other teams!”

One thing is clear: Ndjantou didn’t just earn playing time — he earned Luis Enrique’s full trust, and maybe a much bigger role in the weeks to come.
