After Dembélé, a 2nd Ballon d’Or for PSG this season?

He has conquered Europe, and now he wants to reign over Africa. Achraf Hakimi, the hero of PSG’s Champions League victory, is in the running to win the African Ballon d’Or 2025. With an exceptional season, the Moroccan full-back has been decisive in all the major Parisian nights — including his goal in the final against Inter Milan.

This Wednesday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the list of ten nominees. Unsurprisingly, Hakimi is among the top favorites, alongside Mohamed Salah, the perennial contender for the throne. The statement specifies that the selection was made by “a panel of experts composed of members of the Technical Committee, African legends, coaches, and journalists.”

Crowned with Paris and shining with Morocco, Hakimi ticks all the boxes of a potential winner. Last year, it was Ademola Lookman (Atalanta) who took home the trophy, propelled by his victory in the Europa League.

Achraf Hakimi (Morocco, PSG)
Oussama Lamlioui (Morocco, RS Berkane)

Between Salah, Osimhen, and Hakimi, the battle promises to be royal. But this year, the Moroccan has an argument that the others do not: a Champions League title in his pocket.
