Mikel Arteta has become one of the highest-paid managers in world football. After extending his contract with Arsenal until 2030, the Spanish coach could earn up to €29.5 million per season. That impressive figure exceeds Luis Enrique’s salary at PSG, even when potential bonuses are included.

According to The Times, Arsenal have handed Arteta a new four-year contract worth up to €29.5 million annually, including bonuses. This represents a substantial increase from his previous salary of approximately €18.4 million per year. His new earnings could even surpass the €24.4 million reportedly received by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Arteta Earns More Than Luis Enrique, Even With Bonuses

In September 2026, Luis Enrique extended his PSG contract until June 2030 after winning two consecutive Champions League titles. According to L’Équipe, his fixed salary increased from around €12 million to €20 million gross per season. SalaryLeaks estimates that performance-related bonuses could add another €5 million annually, while Spanish newspaper Sport has also mentioned bonuses of up to €2 million linked to European results. However, the exact contractual details remain confidential.

Including potential bonuses, Luis Enrique could therefore earn an estimated €25 million per season, compared with €29.5 million for Arteta. The difference would be €4.5 million annually between their estimated maximum packages, rising to €9.5 million when comparing Luis Enrique’s fixed salary with Arteta’s maximum reported compensation.

The gap is particularly striking given Luis Enrique’s superior European record. Since joining PSG in 2023, the Spanish manager has won the Champions League twice, in 2025 and 2026. Arteta, meanwhile, guided Arsenal to the Premier League title last season, ending a 22-year drought, before losing the Champions League final to PSG on penalties. Both managers are now under contract until 2030, but Arsenal appear willing to invest even more heavily in their coach. With potential annual earnings approaching €30 million, Arteta could earn significantly more than Luis Enrique despite the Parisian manager’s two consecutive European triumphs.
