PSG

Defending champions PSG made a statement of intent in their Champions League opener, dismantling Atalanta 4-0 at the Parc des Princes despite missing several key players.

From the outset, Paris set the tone. Marquinhos struck inside three minutes, Kvaratskhelia doubled the lead before half-time, and after the break Nuno Mendes and Gonçalo Ramos sealed a dominant performance. With 67% possession, 711 completed passes, and 22 shots (15 inside the box), the reigning European champions suffocated Atalanta, a side usually difficult to break down.

Luis Enrique praised his team but remained cautious: “It wasn’t our intention to send a message. The goal was to start well. We put in a very strong performance, there are still things to improve, but I liked our mentality and intensity.”

With 133 goals scored in 2025 and a run of 30 consecutive home games with at least one Champions League goal, PSG are maintaining their staggering standards — and sending a clear warning ahead of the Classique against Marseille and the clash with Barcelona on October 1.
