Paris Saint-Germain travel to London to face Chelsea on Wednesday at 9 p.m. for the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash. PSG head into the match with a three-goal advantage.
There is always the lingering fear of a comeback reminiscent of past European dramas, but the context this time is very different. The Parisian side has been carefully shaped by an authoritative Luis Enrique. After the 5–2 scoreline in the first leg, both teams are expected to field fairly conventional lineups, with no major surprises when the starting elevens are announced.
Expected lineups for PSG and Chelsea
PSG are set to line up in a 4-3-3 formation with Safonov in goal. The defense should feature the usual quartet of Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho and Nuno Mendes. In midfield, Vitinha will be joined by Zaïre-Emery and João Neves, while Fabian Ruiz remains unavailable due to a knee problem.
Up front, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia started the first leg on the bench, allowing the attacking trio of Désiré Doué, Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé to begin the match. However, his dazzling cameo off the bench has reopened the debate, and he could be the only change for the Parisians. Chelsea are also expected to deploy a 4-2-3-1 system with Jörgensen in goal, a defense of Gusto, Fofana, Chalobah and Cucurella, and a midfield featuring Caicedo, James and Fernandez supporting an attack led by Palmer, Neto and Joao Pedro.
