Dembélé and Doué injured, PSG furious Against France Coach Deschamps

Ousmane Dembélé

Mixed feelings for France — and especially for PSG. While Les Bleus kicked off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-0 win over Ukraine thanks to Olise and Mbappé, two Parisians paid the price: Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé both picked up injuries.

PSG’s anger is boiling. According to RMC Sport and Le Parisien, the club is furious that Dembélé was even brought on. It started with Doué, who was in the starting XI but limped off at halftime after a knock to the calf.

To replace him, Didier Deschamps called on Dembélé… despite PSG having warned the FFF about his fragile condition. The winger, who had already suffered a hamstring issue against Toulouse last week, felt pain in his right thigh this time.

Dembélé sent back to PSG

The club from the capital is fuming. Paris had explicitly asked the French staff not to use Dembélé, believing the risk of relapse was too high. That warning, they feel, was ignored — sparking outrage in Paris.

Deschamps, however, stood by his choice: “If he wasn’t fit, I wouldn’t have played him! And it’s the other thigh this time. He didn’t feel anything violent. He was in good condition. Unfortunately, it happened. It can happen to anyone. But if I had any doubts, I would’ve picked another player,” he explained after the match.

The France boss did suggest, though, that Dembélé will likely be released from the squad ahead of the next game against Iceland.
