Ferran Torres’ transfer to Paris Saint-Germain may not have gone down well with everyone at Barcelona. Just days after his move to PSG was officially confirmed, reports have emerged of tensions between the Spanish forward and several Barça players over the way he handled his departure.
PSG landed Ferran Torres, but the mood in Barcelona appears to be far less positive. According to TouchlineX, several senior members of the Blaugrana dressing room were surprised, and even disappointed, by Torres’ attitude as he prepared to leave the club. Some of his teammates were reportedly unhappy with the way he communicated about his future following the World Cup.
Some Barça Players Reportedly Learned of His Departure on TV
The main criticism reportedly concerns the way Ferran Torres announced his intentions. Several Barcelona players are said to have discovered his desire to leave at the same time as the general public, through comments he made in the media, despite apparently expecting to be informed privately. The unease was not entirely new either, with previous reports suggesting Barça had already grown frustrated with the way Torres used the media to discuss his contractual situation and future.
That suggests PSG’s new number 9 may have left Catalonia in a more tense atmosphere than initially thought. On social media, however, Torres posted a much warmer farewell message, thanking Barcelona and speaking emotionally about the four and a half years he spent at the club. There is no suggestion of a complete breakdown with the entire dressing room, with reports pointing instead to tensions with certain players and disappointment over the way his transfer to PSG was handled.
It was therefore a slightly bitter end to Torres’ Barcelona adventure before the start of a new chapter in Paris.
