Edinson Cavani didn’t just make history with PSG and world football through his goals. He also changed a life.
A year ago in Buenos Aires, Uruguayan journalist Rafa Cotelo faced a nightmare: his daughter Ema, suffering from a neurological condition, needed emergency surgery. But the clinic demanded immediate cash payment – money he couldn’t gather in time.
In despair, Cotelo called Cavani, a longtime friend. The striker’s response was instant. Unable to go himself, Cavani sent a restaurateur friend, who showed up minutes later with the night’s cash register. It was just enough to save the little girl.
Cavani reimbursed without ever asking
The operation was a success and Ema was saved. Cotelo later reimbursed Cavani, who had never asked for anything. “For me, he was like a guardian angel,” the journalist said. Behind the football icon, El Matador remains a man with a huge heart.
