After PSG’s spectacular comeback against Tottenham in the UEFA Super Cup (2-2, 4-3 pens), Luis Enrique delivered a candid assessment to the press. While the win secured Paris their first trophy of the season, the Spanish coach stressed the challenges his team faced, still lacking match sharpness.
“I’m so tired I don’t even know if I can speak French properly…” he began with a touch of humor, before adding: “Honestly, I don’t think we deserve this trophy. You could see the difference between a team like Tottenham, with six weeks of training, and us, with only six days.”
“Too many bad passes”
“For 80 minutes we tried to play our football, but there were a lot of bad passes. We were lucky to score two goals and go to the penalty shootout.”
Enrique still made a point of highlighting the fans’ importance: “That’s football, and for us this is a very good moment. I’m very happy for our supporters, who are always there, never stop singing and helping the team. Even when we were losing, they were still with us.”
