Javier Pastore, future sporting director of PSG?

Javier Pastore

Javier Pastore is preparing for a surprising career switch: becoming a sporting director. And perhaps at PSG, the club of his heart? According to L’Équipe, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is actively supporting the former No.27 in his training, with a view to taking on a key role in the coming years.

Already named a club ambassador, El Flaco now attends ECA meetings alongside the PSG president to learn the inner workings of European football. In parallel, Yohan Cabaye will welcome him at the PSG Campus Academy to introduce him to youth development and the club’s internal operations.

“Leonardo impressed me”

This path inevitably recalls that of Leonardo, a major PSG figure as both player and twice sporting director. Pastore himself cited him as an inspiration: “He impressed me because he did everything in Paris when he arrived in 2011. (…) Seeing Léo made me realize the importance of learning languages and being able to talk to everyone.”

With Al-Khelaïfi as a mentor and Leonardo as a model, Pastore benefits from a double legacy to learn how to become, in turn, a sporting director combining charisma, expertise and vision.
