Coming on in the 62nd minute against Chelsea, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was one of the key figures in PSG’s 5–2 victory in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16. The Georgian winger changed the course of the match with an assist followed by a brace in the final fifteen minutes.
Kvaratskhelia starting on the bench for PSG against Chelsea — the beginning of a problem? Not at all for Luis Enrique. The Georgian delivered a decisive performance. Could he have done even more if he had started the match? No one can say for sure.
Luis Enrique stands by his tactical choice
However, Luis Enrique does not regret his decision not to include him in the starting lineup. The Parisian coach believes he made the right call considering how he manages his squad and distributes playing time.
“Do I have any regrets? No. What we do is look for the best solutions for the players. If we started the match again now, I would do the same thing,” the Spanish manager said during a press conference.
With six goals in ten Champions League matches this season, Kvaratskhelia is once again proving how important he is to the Parisian squad, even when he begins the game on the bench.
