Benoît Bastien (39 years old): a top referee for this Lyon-PSG match. He will be assisted by Hicham Zakrani and Aurélien Berthomieu. The role of fourth official will be held by Marc Bollengier. The video assistance will be provided by Bruno Coue and Jérôme Brisard.

A referee accustomed to big matches. At 39, Bastien has officiated 264 Ligue 1 matches: solid experience and a well-established reputation.

Yellow cards? Be careful, they come out quickly! The average in Ligue 1? 3.53 yellow cards per match. Bastien’s average? 3.91. In other words: even the slightest foul can be costly. The players have been warned.

Few double yellows

And red cards also come into play. He is above the national average: 0.19 direct red cards per match. If a player needs to be sent off, he does not hesitate.

Paradoxically, he issues few double yellows. Only 0.08, slightly below the average. Many cards… but fewer second sanctions. Players quickly understand that it’s better to calm down afterwards.

In short, a strict referee, a tense clash, a boiling Groupama Stadium… The evening promises to be electric.
