Paris Saint-Germain hosts Olympique Lyonnais this Sunday (8:45 PM, Ligue1+) for the 12th matchday of Ligue 1. A crucial clash to remain at the top, but it comes amid a significant injury crisis. On the eve of the match, Luis Enrique provided several major hints about his lineup… and about the players who could benefit from the absences.
Heavily weakened on the flanks, PSG must do without Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes. However, Luis Enrique refuses to dramatize the situation: “I am very motivated because I love challenges. It’s a particular but positive moment. For high-level coaches, it’s usual.” To replace Hakimi, the coach confirms a surprising choice: David Boly, 16 years old, will be in the squad. “David Boly will make the trip. We need to stay calm; it’s a moment to give confidence to different players.” The young player could see his first minutes depending on the match scenario.
Kang-In Lee, finally a starter?
Luis Enrique also announced another important piece of news: Kang-In Lee will play. The South Korean will celebrate his 100th match with Paris. “In a high-level team, many players are very important. Gonçalo has reached 100 matches, now it’s Kang-In. It’s a figure that shows his importance. He will be there tomorrow; he will play.”
A strong sign: Lee could be lined up from the start to compensate for Dembélé’s absence.
Fatigue, rotation, and Zaïre-Emery on fire
With a grueling schedule, Luis Enrique embraces rotation: “Without intensity, there is no high level. We are doing a good job, but we need to rotate. It’s a Tetris job.” However, one player hardly ever comes off: Warren Zaïre-Emery. “He is a very mature player, a true leader by example. He can play anywhere and turns the negative into positive.”
The likely PSG lineup for the press
Le Parisien opts for stability: Kvaratskhelia, Barcola, and Lee in an attacking trio, the usual midfield of Ruiz–Zaïre-Emery–Neves, and Mayulu as a right-back to fill in. A coherent lineup that maintains structure despite the injury crisis.
L’Équipe, on the other hand, imagines a much more reshuffled PSG: Ramos and Mbaye starting in attack, Vitinha in midfield… and especially Neves shifted to the right-back position. A more radical interpretation of the squad crisis, where everyone changes roles to fill the gaps.
Le Parisien (4-3-3)
Kvaratskhelia – Barcola – Lee
Ruiz – Zaïre-Emery – Neves
Hernandez – Pacho – Zabarnyi – Mayulu
