Marquinhos has forgotten nothing about the Classiques against OM. Ahead of another Champions Trophy final, the Paris captain dipped back into his memories, mixing joy, frustration, and a thirst for revenge. “The worst are the defeats,” he admits, but he also prefers to remember the good moments, like lifting the trophy against Marseille or scoring at the Vélodrome, a stadium where it always feels special to leave your mark.
He knows this final is never like any other. He has experienced both sides of the coin: winning and losing. Even with a younger squad, PSG can rely on a real culture of big occasions. “We know how to prepare, we know what to do on the pitch. We’ll do everything to come back with the trophy,” he insists.
A Final Like No Other Against Marseille
The absence of Paris ultras will not change the unique flavor of the Classique, he says, as the stadium will still be full and the stakes remain huge. For Marquinhos, this match is also a showcase for French football and another chance to write history, because writing history means winning titles.
On the pitch, he expects a battle with plenty of commitment, just like in their last visit there. Marseille will come out strong and PSG must be ready, but fear is not part of the equation. Respect, yes; fear, no. Even if Marseille are struggling in the league, a final is a different story and anything can happen.
On a personal level, Marquinhos sees this game as another opportunity to add to an already impressive trophy cabinet. He has not forgotten the last defeat to OM either: losing to Marseille never fades quickly. They won the last meeting, and PSG want to set things straight. For both the club and its captain, this final is about silverware, but also about pride.
