Mbappé Almost Won It All, PSG Backs Down

Paris Saint-Germain has decided not to appeal its conviction by the Paris labor court on December 16, 2025. The club was ordered to pay nearly €61 million to Kylian Mbappé for unpaid wages, bonuses, and vacation related to the end of his contract in 2024. It is now official: Paris is turning the page.

The curtain falls on the Mbappé saga. In a statement, PSG cited a “sense of responsibility” and expressed its desire to bring a definitive end to proceedings that have lasted two and a half years. The club has already paid the full amount, including €5.9 million transferred this week following a bailiff’s order.

PSG Ends Lengthy Legal Dispute With Kylian Mbappé

However, not everything went Mbappé’s way. The labor court rejected several of his major claims, notably the reclassification of his fixed-term contracts into a permanent contract, which could have opened the door to an additional €263 million. His allegations of moral harassment and concealed employment were also dismissed.

The standoff began during the 2023–2024 season after his refusal to extend his contract, casting a shadow over the final chapter of the club’s all-time top scorer, who joined in 2017. While this labor dispute is now closed, another battle remains: a hearing is still scheduled regarding a decision by the French Professional Football League ordering PSG to pay €55 million to the player. This time, Paris wants to move forward, but the Mbappé case will leave a lasting mark on the club’s recent history.
