Mbappé vs PSG: Paris Drops a Scathing Statement

The breakup between Kylian Mbappé and PSG has turned into a full-blown, high-stakes war. Mbappé is demanding €253M from his former club for unpaid wages, bonuses (including €36.6M), damages and interest, and a contractual dispute. PSG, in turn, is demanding €440M, accusing the player of misleading the club after allegedly promising he would never leave on a free transfer. The Parisian club even brought back the rejected €300M offer from Saudi Arabia in 2023 — a “colossal loss” they claim could have changed the club’s history.

A Financial Battle Like No Other: Both sides faced off through their lawyers in labor court on Monday. No progress, no compromise. Instead, both camps doubled down, each demanding hundreds of millions of euros.

The hearing confirmed the total deadlock. In a fiery statement, PSG insisted it had “done everything to find an amicable solution,” accusing Mbappé of attacking the club “at every opportunity.”

“The club wishes to remind that it has done everything, for over a year, to reach an amicable agreement that would allow all parties to move forward, in line with the relationship of cooperation and trust that should exist between a club and its player,” PSG wrote. “Several authorities involved in this dispute encouraged a friendly resolution, which the club always sought in good faith. Despite these repeated efforts, Mr. Mbappé has continually attacked the club at every opportunity, including through the current procedure — a regrettable situation for the player himself, as well as for French football as a whole.”

PSG Accuses Mbappé of “Bad Faith”

The club claims to possess proof of the player’s “bad faith,” alleging he hid his intention to leave for nearly a year and broke an agreement that included a salary reduction if he departed on a free.

PSG wrapped up by contrasting its values with the attitude of its former superstar: good faith, respect for the institution, and the primacy of the collective.

“PSG continues to defend its rights rigorously. Fundamentally, this is a matter of good faith, honesty, upholding values, and respecting the Parisian institution and its supporters. Meanwhile, PSG continues on the path of the most successful season in its history, built on solidarity, hard work, team spirit, and the primacy of the club over any individual.”

The decision is expected on December 16. Until then, the millions — and the pressure — keep piling up.
