Unsurprisingly, the first Classique of the season will be played without Paris Saint-Germain supporters in the away section. For PSG’s trip to Marseille, scheduled for September 20 in Ligue 1, Paris fans will be banned from traveling to the match.
It has become a familiar situation, and it is now confirmed. The Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture has already issued an order banning PSG supporters from the area around the Orange Vélodrome and several districts of Marseille. A further order from the French Interior Ministry is also expected to reinforce the security measures in the days leading up to the game.
PSG Fans Banned Until Monday Morning
The prefectural order imposes a particularly broad ban, running from Sunday, September 20 at 8 a.m. until Monday, September 21 at 2 a.m. Anyone identifying as a PSG supporter, or behaving as one, will be prohibited from entering the stadium and from traveling or remaining in public areas in Marseille’s 1st, 2nd, 6th, 7th and 8th districts. As in recent seasons, the match is also expected to receive the highest risk classification from France’s National Division for the Fight Against Hooliganism, despite the absence of away supporters.

To justify the decision, the authorities have highlighted the historic rivalry between supporters of the two clubs. The prefecture has recalled several previous incidents, including events surrounding a Jul concert in Paris in November 2020, when individuals claiming to be PSG supporters entered the venue and confronted spectators wearing Marseille colors.
The September 20 Classique will therefore once again take place without Paris supporters at the Vélodrome.
