Can Paris Saint-Germain pull off an incredible Champions League “three-peat”? Michel Platini believes they can. The French football legend, who won three consecutive Ballon d’Or awards between 1983 and 1985, believes PSG have everything required to win a third straight European Cup.
Platini is backing PSG. Speaking on the Canal Football Club on Sunday, the former France No. 10 expressed his confidence in the Parisian club’s chances. After winning Europe’s biggest competition in each of the last two seasons, Paris remain, in his eyes, the benchmark and the main favourites to retain their crown.
Platini Praises PSG’s Wonderful Football
Asked whether PSG could add a third European star to their honours list, Platini did not hesitate: “A third star possible for PSG? Yes, because they are the favourites and they have been playing wonderful football for two years. You have to take your hat off to Paris Saint-Germain.”
It is a huge compliment from the three-time Ballon d’Or winner. Platini clearly considers PSG one of the leading contenders for the trophy and believes they can achieve an extremely rare feat by winning the Champions League three seasons in a row.
The challenge remains enormous, but Paris could write another remarkable chapter in European football history by completing the famous “three-peat”.
