Despite a mixed departure in 2023, Neymar hasn’t closed the door on Paris Saint-Germain. In an interview with L’Équipe, his father described the PSG years (2017–2023) as “the best phase” of his son’s career—even without a Champions League title.
Unlike the tense divorce between PSG and Kylian Mbappé, Neymar’s relationship with the club remains positive. Neymar Senior highlighted his son’s impact at the club, especially during the run to the Champions League final in 2020: “He was one of the key players. We just weren’t lucky,” he said, brushing aside past tensions with fans.
Al-Khelaïfi, “A Friend”
Neymar’s father went further, calling club president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi “a friend” and even suggesting a symbolic return someday: “He would surely be applauded. No one can erase what we’ve done for PSG.”
What’s Next for Neymar?
Now 33 and out of contract at Santos, Neymar is weighing his next move. While several European clubs—some playing in the Champions League—have reportedly expressed interest, his father admitted that staying in Brazil ahead of the 2026 World Cup is currently the top option.
A final decision is expected soon. But one thing’s clear: Neymar still holds PSG close to his heart—and the feeling may be mutual.
