Lucas Chevalier can count on a strong ally: his coach. After the hard-fought victory by PSG against Lyon (3-2), Luis Enrique did not hold back in his comments on defensive errors… but he refused to point the finger at his goalkeeper.
Is Lucas Chevalier responsible for Lyon’s second goal? Too advanced in the box, the Parisian keeper was lobbed. Many see it as an error by Chevalier. In his analysis, the Spaniard instead targeted the Pacho–Zabarnyi partnership.
“Defensively, we made mistakes on both goals. You need to know when to push the line forward and when not to, normally it’s a mistake we don’t make.” The second Lyon goal, a lob by Maitland-Niles after a long ball, is a perfect illustration of this. Many criticized Chevalier’s late exit, but his coach completely absolves him.
