Paris Saint-Germain went through every possible emotion. Held to a 2-2 draw by AS Monaco at the Parc des Princes, the Parisian club secured its ticket to the 2025-2026 Champions League Round of 16 thanks to a 3-2 victory in the first leg. But it was anything but easy.
The final moments were suffocating: Monaco’s equalizer in stoppage time, followed immediately by a huge chance to force extra time… Paris trembled until the very end.
Late Drama and Rising Tension at the Parc des Princes
At just 20 years old, Désiré Doué did not hide the stress he felt on the pitch. “Yes, of course, when they score at the end and have one last chance, there is stress and it’s scary.” A lucid admission that perfectly reflected a team that came dangerously close to disaster.
Despite the massive scare, PSG managed to turn things around after falling behind. Doué chose to highlight the collective response: “Overall, we reacted well, went ahead, and delivered a great team performance. There were moments that could have gone against us, but we managed to come back while trailing. We’ll try not to concede in the upcoming matches.”
Paris doubted. Paris wavered. But Paris is still alive in the Champions League. And sometimes, that is all that matters.
