PSG goes to war over French National Team’s medical protocol

Ousmane Dembélé

After the injuries to Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué while on international duty with France, PSG has stepped up its protest. The club has sent an official letter to the French Football Federation demanding the urgent creation of a new medical-sporting protocol between clubs and the national team, one that is more transparent and collaborative.

PSG insists it had provided the FFF with detailed medical data ahead of the international break, including information on workload management and injury risks. According to the club, those warnings were ignored, with no consultation held with its medical staff.

A call for stronger precaution

While reaffirming its support for the French national team, PSG is now calling for a formal framework of systematic and documented exchanges between club and national doctors, along with a reinforced precautionary principle when it comes to players carrying knocks or recovering from injuries.

For Paris, these recent injuries are both serious and avoidable. The club is demanding immediate corrective measures and has declared itself ready to contribute actively to their implementation — in the best interest of the players and of professional football as a whole.
