PSG Is “Extra”, Even Chelsea Says So

Chelsea coach Liam Rosenior tipped his hat to Paris after his team’s heavy defeat at the Parc des Princes (5–2) in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16. Despite the result, he took time to praise the Parisian side.

Liam Rosenior had only positive things to say about PSG. The English coach believes the scoreline was harsh considering the flow of the match, but also acknowledged that Paris were superior. “We’re still happy with our performance. The last 15–20 minutes were completely crazy. We were punished by a very good team. When you look at the score, it really hurts,” Rosenior admitted.

Chelsea coach praises PSG’s quality

According to him, the Blues managed to compete with Paris for most of the game. “For 75 minutes, we were really good. At 2–2, we were close to scoring a third goal, and there was also Pedro’s offside. The fifth goal really hurts as well.”

The London coach also highlighted PSG’s attacking quality, especially the ability of its players to make the difference individually. “There aren’t many Barcolas or ‘Kvaras’ in the Premier League — it’s a really extra team,” he explained.

Despite the heavy defeat, Rosenior wants to focus on the positives ahead of the second leg. “Our performance up until the third goal was really very good. It’s different given the final result, but we have to remember what we did well. We need to get back up and test our resilience,” he concluded. Chelsea will now need to produce a major upset next Tuesday if they hope to qualify.
