PSG. Marquinhos injured, several weeks out?

Major concern for PSG: Marquinhos could be sidelined for several weeks after his new injury. Another alert for the defender, this time hit in the ankle… and the streak of injuries continues. Against Athletic Bilbao, Marquinhos left the pitch prematurely after an accidental clash with Oihan Sancet. In the footage, the Basque player clearly touches the ball first but then clips the Paris captain’s ankle, causing him to collapse instantly.

After spending a few minutes on the ground, Marquinhos tried to return… before being forced to give up. Luis Enrique therefore brought on Illia Zabarnyi at halftime.

PSG’s weakened defense faces a new critical setback

This new injury comes at the worst possible moment. PSG have been accumulating physical issues since the start of the season: Hakimi is out, Beraldo is expected to leave, and Marquinhos was one of the few pillars still standing. Now, the Parisian defense is more exposed than ever.

Worse, the injury may be serious. While it first appeared to be a simple knock, Marquinhos clearly corrected that information in the mixed zone: “It’s not a hit, it’s the adductor.” An injured adductor is rarely harmless… and often means several weeks on the sidelines.

The club is now awaiting medical exams to determine the real length of his absence. But a muscle injury of this type, especially for a player who has already missed several stretches in recent months, raises fears of another long spell in the infirmary. For a PSG entering a run of decisive Champions League matches, it’s a major blow — and an additional headache for Luis Enrique.
