UEFA has appointed German referee Daniel Siebert to officiate Athletic Bilbao vs. PSG, and it’s rather good news for Paris: the club has won each of the three matches he has overseen.
The 41-year-old referee, present at the 2022 World Cup but not considered a top international figure, has already crossed paths with PSG in 2019 (5–0 in Bruges), 2022 (3–1 in Haifa), and 2024 (1–0 against Girona). Each time, Paris came out on top. Even better: during the most recent match, Siebert issued only one warning to PSG.
Siebert’s Track Record Favors Paris
While the history is positive for Paris, it is far less so for Athletic: Siebert has officiated the Basque club only once, in a heavy 4–1 defeat to Manchester United in the Europa League.
Tonight at San Mamés will reveal whether PSG’s streak under Siebert continues.
