Named man of the match against Stade Rennais, Ferran Torres was not exactly smiling after the final whistle. Despite his standout performance, the PSG forward was mainly disappointed that Paris failed to begin their Ligue 1 season with a victory.

Paris Saint-Germain had hoped to leave Rennes with all three points, but the Parisians had to settle for a result that left Torres with mixed feelings. The Spaniard nevertheless believes his team improved as the match went on.

Torres frustrated despite his strong PSG performance

“I’m not completely satisfied because, deep down, we wanted to start with a win. But if you can’t win, you at least have to make sure you don’t lose,” Ferran Torres explained after the match. The former Barcelona player added: “I think we improved as the game went on. Now we have to keep working to prepare for the next match.”

Despite being named man of the match, Torres did not hide his frustration. “We leave with mixed feelings because we always want to win every game,” he insisted. His brace may have helped PSG avoid defeat, but the Spanish forward clearly wanted more from his first Ligue 1 outing of the season.

Torres also had a strong message for the PSG supporters who travelled to Rennes to back the team. “I want to say a huge thank you for your support. You are our 12th man, and we are going to give you many moments of joy.”
