Paris Saint-Germain took a major step forward with a 5-2 victory over Chelsea at the Parc des Princes. Long held in check by opportunistic Blues, Paris eventually made the difference in the final fifteen minutes thanks to Vitinha and then a brace from Kvaratskhelia. The Parisians head into the second leg with a comfortable three-goal advantage.
PSG started strongly against Chelsea and quickly took the lead through Barcola. Well served after a cross from Dembélé and a layoff by João Neves, the Parisian winger unleashed a powerful shot under the crossbar to open the scoring. Paris continued to press and Dembélé doubled the lead just before halftime after a superb transition finished with a precise angled strike.
Chelsea Fight Back Before PSG’s Late Surge
Despite Paris dominating the game, Chelsea managed to respond. Malo Gusto first took advantage of space on the right flank to equalize before the Blues drew level again in the second half through Enzo Fernandez, perfectly set up on the counterattack by Pedro Neto. At 2-2, PSG briefly looked shaken.
The turning point came fifteen minutes from time. Under pressure, goalkeeper Jorgensen completely mishit his clearance. Barcola blocked the ball, which was recovered by Kvaratskhelia, who then set up Vitinha to restore PSG’s lead. A costly mistake that completely changed the end of the match. Kvaratskhelia then took control after coming on, first curling in a superb shot for the 4-2 before finishing a counterattack in stoppage time from a pass by Hakimi to seal the 5-2 win. PSG now approach the return leg in a strong position, although Chelsea showed they remain dangerous in transition.
