PSG vs Newcastle: the probable lineup tonight

PSG have a lot at stake. This Wednesday evening, the Parisians (6th) host Newcastle (7th) at the Parc des Princes for matchday 8 of the 2025–2026 Champions League (9 p.m., Canal+). It is a crucial meeting, and at last the signals are turning green for Luis Enrique.

After the final training session, the club gave an update on its injury list. Quentin Ndjantou is still following an individual program, but Kang-In Lee has returned to full team training. Even better, Fabian Ruiz, João Neves and Achraf Hakimi are very close to making their comeback, as is Nuno Mendes.

Hakimi’s return could change everything

Above all, the situation of Achraf Hakimi is drawing attention. Looking for a second wind at the start of 2026, PSG could find in their Moroccan full-back an immediate driving force. Back at the PSG Campus, the former Inter player has looked sharp and determined. According to L’Équipe, Hakimi is eager to play again and wipe away his recent disappointment, and his return could trigger a real domino effect in the Parisian lineup, both defensively and in midfield, offering Luis Enrique more competition and more options at the perfect time.

Barring any surprise, the Parisian coach should be able to field a much more competitive eleven. Lucas Chevalier is expected in goal. In defense, Hakimi could return on the right alongside Marquinhos, Pacho and Lucas Hernandez (or Nuno Mendes depending on his condition).

In midfield, Vitinha is a certainty with Warren Zaïre-Emery and João Neves or Fabian Ruiz. Up front, the trio Dembélé–Kvaratskhelia–Barcola is favored, with Kang-In Lee as a credible alternative depending on his fitness.

Chevalier – Hakimi (or Zaïre-Emery), Marquinhos, Pacho, Hernandez (or Mendes) – Vitinha, Zaïre-Emery, João Neves (or Fabian Ruiz) – Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia, Barcola.
