Warren Zaïre-Emery is smiling again in Blue. After playing with the U21s in October, the PSG midfielder made a convincing return to the senior French team during the November gathering, particularly against Azerbaijan (3-1). At 19 years old, he allows himself to dream bigger: why not the 2026 World Cup?
What a turnaround for Warren Zaïre-Emery. At rock bottom at the start of the season, no longer a starter with PSG, WZE is regaining form and confidence. The young Parisian explains that his time with the U21s did him good: “I feel better mentally, it has given me confidence back.” He is aware, however, that in the French team, competition is constant and that everything starts with his performances at the club.
Regarding the World Cup, Zaïre-Emery remains realistic: “The season is still long, there are very good players. I will need to do even better at PSG to come back here.”
WZE well positioned for the World Cup
But the ambition is there. The midfielder acknowledges that all players dream of lifting the World Cup, and that some in the current squad have already done so. “It would be a pleasure to help the team achieve that dream,” he says.
At 19, WZE has never been closer. The dream is allowed. The 26 are at the end of the season. And his first World Cup.
