It was a nightmare evening for PSG during Ukraine–France (0-2) on Friday. Both Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé came off injured, left the French national team camp, and will be sidelined for several weeks.
Doué (20) suffered a torn right calf muscle and will miss three to four weeks of action. Dembélé (28) picked up a hamstring injury in his right leg and will be out for six to eight weeks. Two massive blows for Paris, coming at the worst possible time.
The timing is brutal: both attackers will miss key fixtures — Lens (September 14), Atalanta in the Champions League (September 17), OM (September 21), Auxerre (September 27), and most notably Barcelona on October 1. Dembélé’s absence will stretch even further, potentially ruling him out of clashes against Lille, Strasbourg, Leverkusen, Brest, Lorient, Nice, and Bayern Munich in early November.
Luis Enrique will need to get creative
Dembélé will also miss France’s October internationals against Azerbaijan (October 10) and Iceland (October 13). For Luis Enrique, losing two major pieces of his attack right before a decisive run of fixtures is a major headache.
