PSG vs Tottenham is approaching, and an old face is stepping back into the spotlight. As Paris prepares for a fiery Champions League showdown, Xavi Simons is set to return to the Parc des Princes in a charged, electric atmosphere.
The Dutch midfielder hasn’t forgotten his time in the capital. Two seasons after choosing not to return to PSG, Simons fully stands by his decision. “Leaving PSG for Eindhoven and then Leipzig was the right choice. I needed more playing time to progress. I have very good memories of that period,” he told Le Parisien.
Stepping onto the Parc pitch again fires him up: “I’m really looking forward to it. I had great moments in Paris, it’s where I took my first steps. Being alongside Neymar, Mbappé, Verratti, seeing their approach to football on and off the pitch, taught me so much.”
“An experience that helped me grow”
His most vivid memory remains intact: “Standing next to Mbappé and Marquinhos at 17 years old — that’s every footballer’s dream. A really beautiful memory.”
He hasn’t forgotten his ties either: “I made a lot of friends here, and I can’t wait to return to the Parc, especially to share this moment with Wilson Odobert, who I played with in the youth teams.”
As PSG prepares to face Tottenham, Simons returns to the Parc both emotional and determined — and surely with one thought in mind: making a big mark against his former club.
