Vitinha arrived at Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2022 and experienced the era of the famous attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappé. A prestigious front three on paper, but not always a balanced one on the pitch according to the Portuguese midfielder.
Vitinha has established himself at PSG, and this was his chance to speak openly about some former teammates, especially those who did not make enough effort. First and foremost, Neymar, Mbappé and Messi.
Vitinha highlights the importance of collective effort at PSG
In an interview with Canal 11, Vitinha acknowledged that the three former PSG stars are among “the best players in the history of football.” However, he believes their style was not necessarily the most beneficial for the team as a whole.
“You cannot afford to have one, two or three players who do not run,” he explained, stressing the difference with the current PSG side. The Portuguese midfielder pointed to the defensive work of the attackers today, especially Ousmane Dembélé and Gonçalo Ramos, who are capable of pressing high and acting as the team’s first defenders.
