Angel Di Maria shares his thoughts in a Netflix documentary, revealing that the worst coach he ever worked with was at Manchester United.
Di Maria, who transferred to United for €75 million in 2014 after four years at Real Madrid, had a difficult time in the Premier League due to tensions with Dutch coach Louis van Gaal. These strained relations led the Argentine winger to leave the club after just one season, before joining PSG, where he spent seven years and departed in tears.
“I Will Never Get Tired of Saying It”
“I will never get tired of saying it, he’s the worst coach I’ve ever had,” Di Maria said in the Netflix documentary, recounting his career.
Di Maria faced Van Gaal again in the 2022 World Cup quarterfinal between Argentina and the Netherlands. “We beat them on penalties after he said we wouldn’t because he thought he knew everything. In the end, he had to swallow his words,” the 2022 World Cup champion stated.
