Gianluigi Donnarumma (25, 4 matches in all competitions this season) will not be available for Paris Saint-Germain’s first Champions League match against Girona on Wednesday at 9 p.m.
The Italian goalkeeper, sidelined due to an injury, is forced to miss this crucial fixture for PSG.
“Following muscle discomfort in his right thigh experienced during yesterday’s match against Brest, Gianluigi Donnarumma will undergo treatment this week,” PSG announced in a statement.
This absence opens the door for Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov to make his official debut for the club in Donnarumma’s place.
