Increased Security Measures for PSG vs AC Milan Match Due to Terrorism Risks and Ultras Presence
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is gearing up to face AC Milan in the 3rd match of the group stage of the 2023-2024 UEFA Champions League. Enhanced security measures have been put in place in response to recent terrorism concerns and the heightened state of the Vigipirate plan.
For this match, an attendance of 2,000 Milanese supporters is expected at the Parc des Princes. Authorities are ensuring that all necessary security precautions are taken to facilitate the smooth progression of the game.
A security meeting was held this past Monday afternoon to prepare for the PSG-AC Milan clash scheduled for Wednesday at 9:00 PM at the Parc des Princes. Among these Italian supporters, 500 ultras will be in attendance. While no particular antagonism is known to exist between them and PSG supporters, the Collectif Ultras Paris has invited Napoli fans to the event, warranting special attention, as reported by L’Equipe.
Approximately 500 men and women from six mobile force units, including mobile gendarmes and CRS, will be deployed around the stadium at the Porte de Saint-Cloud to ensure security.
This substantial security presence is a response to the national context, as the Vigipirate plan was elevated to the “terror emergency” level last week due to the assassination of Professor Dominique Bernard in Arras. Authorities are also keeping a watchful eye on potential clashes between hooligans that could take place in the capital between Italian groups and Parisian groups who no longer frequent the Parc des Princes.
