Another setback for PSG: Marquinhos has sustained an injury while on international duty with Brazil.
Last night, Brazil faced Argentina (0-1) in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Marquinhos, the 29-year-old defender for Paris Saint-Germain, was in the starting lineup for the match but had to leave the field at halftime due to a left thigh injury.
“I felt a strain on my hamstring during a play, it was painful, that’s why I came off. I underwent initial examinations, and it was painful during stretching. I will undergo further tests in Paris. (Too soon for Monaco and Newcastle?) We have to wait. I’ll arrive in Paris on Thursday; it might be a bit tight for Monaco. I don’t know how I’ll feel in a few days. I hope it’s not serious, and I can get back on the field as soon as possible,” said the PSG player.
This is unfortunate news for PSG, which has already lost Warren Zaïre Emery in midfield. The club is expected to provide updates on the injury in the coming hours, once the captain has returned to Paris.
