Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is considered a Paris Saint-Germain legend, left an indelible mark on the field during his time at the club, but he might have never joined in the first place.
In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Zlatan Ibrahimovic reveals that he was not initially enthusiastic about signing with PSG. Originally, his transfer to Paris may not have been his desire, but he ended up greatly enjoying his PSG experience.
“I didn’t want to leave Milan; I would have liked to stay. They sold me in a package deal with Thiago Silva, but I’m a man of my word, so I went, and in the end, it was fantastic!”
In this interview, Zlatan Ibrahimovic also comments on Lionel Messi’s arrival in MLS, a league where the former striker played between 2018 and 2020: “I’m happy for the Americans because they can watch football again. When I left LA Galaxy, they started watching baseball again.”
Zlatan also revealed that it was Ronaldinho who encouraged him to sign with AC Milan before joining PSG. “It wasn’t an easy time for me at Barcelona; the coach wanted to sell me at all costs (Pep Guardiola). We played against them, and Ronaldinho said to me, ‘After the match, come with us.’ That’s when Galliani came to convince me. I had a good relationship with Berlusconi; he gave me the opportunity to smile again.”
