During their vacation departures, PSG players received a precise program: no room for excessive indulgence.
According to L’Equipe, the club provided a 20-page program designed by the two fitness coaches, Pedro Gomez and Alberto Piernas. “In the beginning, the players were instructed to observe a total rest period of fifteen days to ensure ‘disconnection’,” L’Equipe states.
Following that, for two weeks, a preventive training regimen was implemented, focusing on strength and endurance sessions. “Last week, the intensity of the program increased to readjust their bodies for the upcoming season.”
PSG wanted each player to stay within 1.5kg of their ideal weight. The program was tailored to each player’s athletic profile.
