Barcola and Mbaye to Liverpool: Double Transfer Hits Complications

Bradley Barcola remains firmly on Liverpool’s radar, but his transfer is still a long way from being completed. While several reports in recent days suggested that talks over the Paris Saint-Germain forward were accelerating, The Athletic claims that discussions have not yet made any significant progress.

Barcola joined PSG in the summer of 2023 and is under contract until June 2028. The 23-year-old has gradually established himself in Paris and with the French national team, but he is still regularly left on the bench for the biggest matches and has reportedly refused to extend his contract. That situation could push PSG to consider a sale if a major offer arrives.

Liverpool Waiting for PSG to Lower Barcola’s Price

Liverpool have been tracking Barcola since the start of the transfer window and remain keen to strengthen their options on the wings. However, the main obstacle is PSG’s asking price. According to The Athletic, the French champions still value Barcola at around €170 million. The Reds are hoping Paris will lower their demands to allow serious negotiations to begin, but for now, no agreement between the two clubs is close.

The Ibrahim Mbaye situation appears to be even less advanced. The 18-year-old forward has also been linked with Liverpool in recent days, with reports even suggesting that an agreement had been reached over personal terms. However, Liverpool have firmly denied those claims to The Athletic, insisting that their interest in Mbaye has so far only been exploratory and that no agreement has been reached with the young PSG player.

Liverpool are therefore keeping an eye on two PSG forwards, but at this stage neither Barcola nor Mbaye appears close to joining the Reds.
