Cherki to PSG, Textor Confirms!

Rayan Cherki could have worn the PSG jersey… for a bargain. Now at Manchester City, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder was very close to joining Paris for just €15 million, according to explosive revelations from John Textor on RMC Sport.

Rayan Cherki to PSG was almost a done deal. But no… “Cherki was supposed to go to PSG for €15 million,” bluntly stated the OL owner. The reason was a promise made well before the player’s media breakout, and above all a rather unusual contractual clause.

A deal that nearly slipped through PSG’s fingers

“It wasn’t a real release clause, but it still gave him some room to leave,” Textor explained, comparing the case to those of Barcola or Lukeba.

A scenario that could have cost Lyon dearly. “If he had been entirely our player, we would have earned much more,” admitted the American, before defending himself: “But getting more than €30 million for a player whose clause was much lower, financially, we did as well as possible.”

Promises, a vague clause, unstable governance: all the ingredients were there for an explosive saga. PSG thought they had secured a huge cut-price deal, Lyon tried to limit the damage, and Cherki ultimately surprised everyone by heading to Manchester City, completely changing his stature.
