PSG has indeed gone on the offensive for Pedro “Dro” Fernández. According to information from Fabrice Hawkins (RMC Sport), confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, the Parisian club is fully in the race to recruit the 18-year-old attacking midfielder from FC Barcelona.
The leaders of Paris Saint-Germain want to take advantage of a real market opportunity and have already made an offer to the player. His release clause is set at only 6 million euros, a very affordable amount for such a promising profile. Negotiations are currently underway, but competition is reported to be very strong in this case.
According to RMC, the player has many options in Europe. He can choose to join an “intermediate” club where he would be almost guaranteed to play, or take the gamble of a top club like PSG, where the competition would be tougher, but with much greater sporting and financial prospects. Moreover, Paris has shown in recent months that it is no longer hesitant to trust young talents.
“The Dro Fernandez rumor?” Luis Enrique deflects
“So it’s up to Dro to decide, but PSG is there and PSG is a very serious candidate for his signature this winter. If all goes well, PSG could sign Dro,” explains a source close to the matter.
When asked about this rumor, Luis Enrique remained true to his usual stance, refusing to comment: “The Dro Fernandez rumor? I don’t know, I don’t respond!”
The matter is indeed real, advanced, but still far from being finalized. One thing is certain: PSG is clearly in the mix to try to acquire one of the most sought-after young talents from Barça.
