Marcus Thuram, Vinicius Jr, and Lionel Messi: that’s the transfer news for October 9.

Vinicius is set to extend his contract with Real Madrid, with a release clause of 1 billion euros. Real Madrid is securing Vinicius’ future. After raising the release clauses of several other players to one billion euros, it’s now the Brazilian’s turn. Currently under contract until June 2024, Vinicius is expected to sign a long-term extension with Real very soon.

“It’s always an honor to play here at Real Madrid, with such fans and the love they have for me. I’m very happy to play here, and I want to continue playing for Real Madrid for my entire life,” said the young talent in a club media statement this weekend.

Free at the end of his contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach, Marcus Thuram chose Inter Milan over PSG. “It’s a choice that would define my career. I know I made the right one. People who know football understand what Inter represents,” said the French striker to L’Equipe, despite the arrivals of Ousmane Dembélé and Randal Kolo Muani. “No, if I want to see my friends, I’ll go on vacation with them. I won’t make a career choice based on my friends.”

Lionel Messi back at Barça? Inter Miami failed to qualify for the MLS playoffs. According to reports in the Catalan press, notably the daily Sport, a return of Lionel Messi to Europe is not out of the question. Like Zlatan Ibrahimovic or David Beckham in Milan, MLS opens the door to a possible loan of the Argentine forward to FC Barcelona in January, for six months.

The condition is that Inter Miami does not reach the MLS Playoffs. And it’s official, Beckham’s club failed to qualify. Lionel Messi will thus not play in the MLS between October 21 (the end of the 2023 season) and the end of February 2024 (the new season).

A fairly long period of time to possibly imagine a return to Barça. Messi is under contract with Inter Miami until December 2025. Nothing is certain, but the door is open…

José Mourinho is currently the coach of Roma, but his future seems to be in Saudi Arabia. At least, that’s what he claims. A few days ago, José Mourinho revealed that he had turned down huge sums to coach in Saudi Arabia. With Roma’s disastrous start to the season, the Special One could be sacked quickly.

And bounce back just as quickly. “I am focused on Rome, and I will give my all until my last day here. No one knows the future, but I also believe that I will work in Saudi Arabia. I don’t know when, but I’m sure it’s something I will do,” he said.
