According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Gianluigi Donnarumma has caught the interest of Juventus Turin.
With Gigi Buffon retiring, could Gigi Donnarumma be his successor? Although Buffon is no longer playing for Juventus Turin, he left an indelible mark on the club. As the team is undergoing a reconstruction phase, they are considering a possible change in goalkeepers this summer and see Donnarumma as the top candidate should Wojciech Szczęsny depart.
Even though the goalkeeper position is not one of Massimiliano Allegri’s top priorities, Juventus is keen on returning to the tradition of having the Italian national team’s starting goalkeeper in their ranks. Donnarumma is viewed as the successor to Gianluigi Buffon, and the club is interested in acquiring him for an extended period, aiming to firmly establish him as their first-choice goalkeeper.
However, to make this transfer happen, Juventus will first need to sell Wojciech Szczęsny. If this comes to fruition, Juventus will prioritize Donnarumma as they seek to strengthen their squad in the goalkeeper position.
Gianluigi Donnarumma is reportedly open to the idea of returning to Serie A, two years after leaving AC Milan to join PSG. The arrival of Arnau Tenas as the second goalkeeper puts added pressure on the Italian shot-stopper, especially considering Keylor Navas is still at PSG as well.
