Long expected to leave at the end of the season, Marquinhos has flipped the script. The PSG captain, widely tipped for one final challenge after thirteen years in Paris, is now opening the door to something very different: ending his career at PSG.
Fresh off his 500th appearance for the club, the Brazilian dropped a bombshell on RMC Sport: “Finishing my career at PSG? Honestly, I’m not saying no.”
He explained the mindset behind this shift: “At PSG you must always be at the highest level. There’s competition, young players pushing… but as long as I perform, as long as the president and coach are happy, why not stay?”
PSG was already planning for life after Marquinhos…
For weeks, the trend was pointing toward a departure in June. The club had already explored profiles like Upamecano, Konaté or Zabarnyi to rebuild the defence.
But now, everything could change.
Marquinhos insists he wants to stay, compete and prolong the story: “As long as I’m happy, as long as the club is happy, I’ll give everything to stay as long as possible.”
In other words: the captain no longer sees himself leaving. PSG may have to rewrite its entire defensive roadmap — and Luis Enrique certainly wouldn’t oppose keeping his trusted leader.
