FC Barcelona wants to sign Nico Williams, but PSG is also in the running. The Catalan club fears that the deal could be finalized in just a few hours.

Paris Saint-Germain has the financial resources. Barcelona, not so much. The Catalan club is eager to recruit Nico Williams, the 22-year-old winger from Athletic Bilbao, who had an impressive season with 31 matches and 5 goals in La Liga for the 2023-2024 season.

According to the daily Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana are seriously concerned about PSG’s competition in the race to sign the Spanish international. Barcelona hopes Williams will make a quick decision because the Parisian club, with its significant financial power and attractive sporting project, represents a substantial threat.

Nico Williams, PSG’s New Mbappé?

Unlike the Catalans, who are facing ongoing financial issues, PSG is capable of immediately paying the 58 million euro release clause set for Williams. Currently under contract with Bilbao until June 2027, Williams could be a major addition for Paris, which is seeking a new marquee player following Kylian Mbappé’s departure.
